CATVDA V5 version 5.2.3 now available

The processor MVI CATVDA V5 CAA V5 based is now available in release version 5.2.3. The new version of the converter provides patches for minor errors as well as improvements in data exchange. New features of the processor are e.g.:

For the CATVDA V5 processor, nodelocked and floating licenses are available as English and German language versions.

MVI CATVDA V5 CAA V5 based

The „MVI VDAFS Interface CAA V5 based“ is a processor which provides the VDAFS V2.0 surface interface as defined by the Automobile Industry Association (VDA) for the CAD system CATIA V5. This bidirectional interface supports the exchange of 3D CAD data between CATIA V5 and other CAD systems as well as products in the fields of FE, NC, technical presentation and documentation.

Translation CATIA V5 to VDAFS

During the transfer from CATIA to VDAFS a text file based on CATIA model data is generated that corresponds to VDAFS standard. It is possible to transmit CATIA-Parts, CATIA-Products as well as individually selected parts of a model.

In addition, you can exclude individual element types from transmission. The model structure consisting of parts, bodies and open bodies will be mapped flexibly on VDAFS sets and/or groups.

The user may define how to map element types which do not exactly correspond to any VDAFS standard on replacement elements.

Several CATIA models can be transferred during one transmission run. A separate VDAFS file is created for each model.

Translation VDAFS to CATIA V5

During the transfer from VDAFS to CATIA, a VDAFS text file is read in and translated into a CATPart. All of the elements defined by the VDAFS 2.0 standard are processed, and there are also various translation control options available.

Individual VDAFS element types can be excluded from transmission. The user may define how to map element types which do not exactly correspond to suitable CATIA elements

It is possible to map the structuring of the VDAFS file by VDAFS sets and groups on CATIA-Parts, bodies or open bodies.

Several VDAFS files can be transferred during one transmission run. A separate CATPart is created for each file.

Integration into existing environments

The „MVI VDA/FS Interface CAA V5 based“ is supplied with interactive user prompt, which enables you to conveniently select all options and settings for flow control and to launch the transmission process.

As an alternative, you may also start the individual modules as a batch program, which enables you to include the translator into user defined interfaces or automated data exchange.
